SGB-SMIT Group is the pure-play transformer specialist from Europe with the highest customer dedication. Proof of this: It is precisely this customer dedication that is the key motivation behind our intention to keep our European roots but expand the Group’s growth on a global scale. Whether it is a sales agency, a regional partner company, a joint venture, or a Group subsidiary, the SGB-SMIT Group is represented globally in order to be present locally for its customers. The latest example of this is the acquisition of a transformer company in South Africa.
SGB-SMIT POWER MATLA is the new company that was founded on August 1, 2018 together with the South-African company Power Matla. This incorporation succeeds Powertech Transformers and will operate from its production locations in Pretoria and Cape Town.
Renewable energies, information and communications technology, mining, and power supply: The activities of SGB-SMIT Power Matla are reflected in the competencies of the SGB-SMIT Group and make the South-African company an ideal partner to support and advance the continued growth of SGB-SMIT in (South) Africa.
SGB-SMIT POWER MATLA can now expand its leading position by harnessing its full access to SGB-SMIT technology, covering power, distribution, and dry transformers from 16 kVA to 800 MVA.
Of course, a corporate culture based on global activities and strong regional ties also involves a certain responsibility – this was pointed out by Bernard Meyer, CEO of SGB-SMIT POWER MATLA. “In March 2018, we were awarded Accreditation Level 1 in the official program ‘Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment’.” The new company also receives this status.
SGB-SMIT POWER MATLA means that the sub-Saharan region now becomes one of the markets where the SGB-SMIT Group can literally say that it is at home. We look forward to exciting challenges, discerning customers, exhilarating projects, and many growth opportunities.
